Job Description

We are seeking a strategic and results-driven Director of Finance to lead the financial operations of our hotel in Orlando, FL. As a key member of the Executive Committee, you will be responsible for safeguarding the hotel’s assets, ensuring strict financial controls, and providing the analytical insight necessary to maximize profitability in a high-volume, seasonal market.

The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of the hospitality industry, particularly within the Orlando landscape (including complex tax regulations and resort fee structures), and excels at balancing fiscal discipline with the needs of a guest-centric operation.

Responsibilities

Financial Leadership & Strategy

  • Lead the annual budgeting process and develop long-term financial forecasts that account for Orlando’s seasonal demand cycles (Spring Break, Summer, Convention seasons).
  • Provide real-time financial analysis to the General Manager and Department Heads to drive GOP (Gross Operating Profit) and Flow-through.
  • Monitor and manage cash flow, capital expenditures (CapEx), and investment ROI.

Accounting Operations & Compliance

  • Oversee all accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and income audit functions.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and Uniform System of Accounts for the Lodging Industry (USALI).
  • Manage state and local tax filings, including Florida Sales Tax and Orange County Tourist Development Tax (TDT).
  • Coordinate internal and external audits to ensure 100% compliance with corporate and regulatory standards.

Operational Oversight

  • Partner with the Revenue Management team to analyze RevPAR, ADR, and occupancy trends.
  • Conduct monthly P&L reviews with department managers, providing coaching on labor management and expense control.
  • Oversee IT and purchasing departments to ensure procurement processes are cost-effective and secure.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Hospitality Management (Master’s or CPA preferred).
  • Experience: Minimum of 5–7 years of financial leadership experience in a full-service hotel or resort.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in hotel ERP systems (e.g., Oracle/Opera, M3, ProfitSage) and advanced Excel modeling.
  • Market Knowledge: Familiarity with the Orlando hospitality market, including labor laws and local tax regulations.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to manage and mentor a diverse accounting team.
